How to Fix a Drooping Gate
Share
Timber gates can often move around and droop as a result of weather or general wear and tear. Unfortunately this can cause a bolt and it's keep to unalign, preventing you from being able to lock your gate. Luckily, this has a very simple fix. In just four steps and using one tool you can raise your gate so it closes and locks properly once again...

How to Do It
Step One: Ensure your gate has adjustable hinges. If it does, game on! Looking at the back of your gate, move to the top hinge and slightly slacken the inside nut.
Step Two: Slackening the inside nut should allow you to move along the outside nut. Loosen that.
Step Three: Moving back to the left nut, begin tightening it up and watch as the gate slowly raises with each turn. Continue doing this until the bolt is aligned with the keep.
Step Four: Check the bolt slides in and out smoothly, and that gate still opens and closes smoothly. Then, step back to admire your handiwork!
